The Café Car

Here we are. There is something sad about it,
how we’ve all lined up in here, in the café car.

Fathers by themselves ordering coffee,
sandwiches and beer. Candy bars, sweets,
with their hands
in their pockets
and their
feelings
on the floor.

They bend over and pick them up,
couples prod one another for love,

nuts, Coca-Cola
classic,

our little pleasures.

There’s something sad about being human like this.
About standing in line in the café car just waiting for
something to eat.
